a holiday to Florida

Choosing your Holiday or Vacation Accommodation in Florida

Planning a holiday to Florida is a very exciting experience, but it can also be a very daunting one.

Whether you would like to visit only Central Florida or are looking for a two resort vacation to Disney World and a beach location, or simply a place to stay between exploring the many golf courses around Orlando. Perhaps we can help you to make an informed choice.

Where do you start?
Do you look for a house, an apartment, a hotel, a condo, a flat, a cottage? Call them what you will, what you basically want is a home from home. Your base is somewhere to relax with your family and friends, whilst planning your next Florida experience.

Your holiday accommodation is one of the most important aspects of your visit to Florida. You need a rest between your busy days and the place you decide to stay must be as enjoyable as your visits to all the wonderful attractions of Central Florida, such as Disney World, Universal and Sea World.

When Florida became a popular vacation destination in the 1970’s, a villa in Kissimmee near Disney World was what holiday-makers wanted. News travelled fast and Kissimmee was the word on everyone’s lips. Kissimmee is to the East of Disney World on US192 and access over the years has become more and more congested.

However, more recently, developments on the US27 to the West of Disney World have become more popular. This area gives easier access to not only Disney World but to Interstate 4, which is the major route between the East and West Coasts.

On the East Coast, often called the ‘Space Coast’ or Atlantic coast, you will find the Kennedy Space Center, Cape Canaveral, Cocoa Beach and Daytona. Further South on this coast is West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale and Miami, leading onwards to Key Largo (the entrance to the Florida Keys) and eventually to the Southern tip of Florida at Key West.

On the West Coast, often called the Gulf Coast, you will discover the beautiful white sandy beaches and blue warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Wonderful places to visit along this coast are Clearwater, Tampa Bay, Fort De Sota, and across the majestic Sunshine Skyway Bridge to Bradenton, Anna Marie Island, Sanibel, Fort Myers, Naples, and onwards to the amazing Everglades.

The major theme parks of Universal Studios, Universal Islands of Adventure, Sea World, Aquatica and Busch Gardens are all located just off Interstate 4. You will also find that Interstate 4 provides great access to the shopping Malls of International Drive, Belz, the Florida Mall, Buena Vista Outlets, Premium Outlets and the Mall at Millenia.

So, therefore the accommodation to the West of Disney World along the US27 seems to have become more popular than the older developments of Kissimmee.

Along the US27 you will find Calabay Parc, Davenport Lakes, Florida Pines, Four Corners, Hampton Lakes, Highlands Reserve, Legacy Park, Polo Park, Ridgewood Lakes, Southern Dunes, Tuscan Ridge, Westridge to name but a few. Others close by are Celebration and Champions Gate.

A Florida villa will provide so much more than a hotel, apartment or condo. Most of these homes have their own private pool but you will have to share the community pool of the alternative vacation accommodation. A private pool is just outside your back door and is a wonderful way to cool off at the end of a fun filled day exploring Florida’s attractions. Comparing this with trailing through the hotel lobby or across the vast areas of some of the condo/apartment complexes to find to pool area, there really is ‘no contest!’

Renting a privately owned Orlando villa is often cheaper per person, per night, than renting multiple rooms in a hotel or renting an apartment or a condo.

For example, a party of eight people may pay $40 per room per night with two people in each room. This would be $160 for each night. A villa in the Orlando area can be as little as $80 per night. Half the price of a hotel room! ……..and you will have your own private pool to relax by…………..relaxing by the pool is a must in the fantastic Florida climate.

This type of self-catering accommodation is extremely flexible as well as good value for money. Eating out in Florida is very cheap and many people choose to eat in the many restaurants and bars……….giving Mum a vacation too, but should you choose to eat in, a Florida villa provides all of the facilities you require.

Another valuable benefit of renting one of these holiday homes close to Disney World is the laundry facilities. You will normally have a utility room with full size washer and tumble dryer together with an iron and ironing board. So, whether you need to wash your clothes or on unpacking your suitcase you find that your journey hasn’t been kind to your clothes you have everything you need to put things right without paying hotel laundry charges

Therefore it would make sense to choose a rental property on US27 if you would like to have a home from home which gives you privacy, but has easy access to all of the Florida attractions, close proximity to some fabulous golf courses and shopping malls, great location, a private pool, laundry facilities, full kitchen facilities and great value for money.
