What and where can you eat after your fabulous day out at the Florida Theme Parks, Playing Golf or Shopping?
If you have been to Disney World, Universal Studios, Universal Islands of Adventure, Sea World, Aquatica or one of the other amazing Florida attractions, you may want something quick on your way home to our villa at Calabay Parc. On route you will find many fast food restaurants like MacDonalds at Champions Gate, Burger King, Wendy’s, MacDonalds, the Waffle House at the junction of Interstate 4 and US27 or along the strip Mall at the junction of US27 and Ronald Reagan Parkway you have the choice of Dominoes Pizza or Chinese To Go. There is also a Subway across at the gas/petrol station.
If you wanted a little more than fast food, there are a number of restaurants and bars on US27, such as Manny’s (one of our favourites), or the All Star Sports Grill at Haines City, or closer to Calabay Parc, the Grand China Buffet, Perkins, Bob Evans, Denny’s, all near Posner Park Retail Outlet, which is at the junction with Interstate 4.
Slightly closer to Calabay Parc is Cracker Barrel, which serves home cooked food and is also a gift shop, specializing in holiday goods such as Christmas and Halloween merchandise. Only a mile South of Calabay Parc at the junction of US27 and Ronald Reagan Parkway there is an American Bar and Grill called Beef O’Brady’s (this is the closest place for food and drink to Calabay Parc).
If you are returning from the Florida Theme Parks to Calabay Parc via US192 and US27 some other places you can eat are:
A very friendly Irish Bar called Devenneys is just North of the junction of US192 and US27. This junction is often referred to as “Four Corners” as the four Counties of Polk, Orange, Osceola and Lake all meet here.
This gives you a rough idea of the places to eat, drink and socialise we have experienced that are within easy reach of Calabay Parc. We have given a little more detail on our favourites below.
Manny’s Chop House
Manny’s Chop House gives you chance to experience a real American Bar.
It is very popular with locals and tourists alike so as you cannot reserve a table, be sure to phone for “Call Ahead Seating” which does save time when you arrive. The locals like to eat early, so slightly later evening say after 7, is sometimes less busy. There is a happy hour so you could always arrive in time to take advantage of the 2 for 1 drinks while you wait for a table. Somehow the table is always ready way too soon!!!!
We always have to go here at least once (often more if we have time) on every visit to Florida.http://www.mannyschophouse.com/
Devenney’s Irish Bar
An Irish Bar on US27, just North of US192, Devenneys has everything an Irish Bar needs. They have good beer and food, lots of TVs showing all sports, particularly English football (for all those Brits who are getting withdrawal symptoms). Karaoke nights, Quiz nights and Live entertainment all make for a good all round bar. We love it!http://devenneyspub.com/
Located next to Publix Supermarket in The Berry Town Center Plazza (2 miles North of Calabay Parc on Highway 27) is Sunday’s Grill.
This is an English owned bar/restaurant serving English style Fish and Chips. They have a good menu too with starters, sandwiches and entrees.
Sunday’s Grill also have live music, quizzes and karaokehttp://www.sundaysgrill.com/
This bar serves good food and has a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. When you pass by – don’t assume they are closed because the windows are dark. This has caught us out more than once. The manager explained to us that these tinted windows are to keep the place cool and are used on many of the bars, restaurants and shop fronts in Florida. There are neon signs in the windows which are lit to indicate that they are open.
